Mama Bear and the Three Cubs

Once upon a time. . .

There was a hungry Mama Bear and her Three Cubs.

BAM!!!! Mama Bear desperately ripped open the trash can in our front yard so she could feed her babies... And they all must have been bored, because it was really easy for her to open (even though it was locked shut).

Meanwhile, Christopher was getting ready for work inside our home, and his beautiful wife Ariel was already at work. Chris is finally ready to leave, he grabs his wallet and his keys, and opens the front door. He steps onto our high balcony porch and has no idea there are four bored and a little bit upset bears in the front yard. Chris begins to walk downstairs (as he always does to get to the car)...

Luckily our super helpful neighbor is watching the mischievous bears and runs outside on his deck to promptly warn Chris to run back inside quickly "There is a Mama Bear and her three cubs, and you are about to walk between them!!!!" Chris quickly turns around and goes back inside. While inside he grabbed a camera to see if he could get any good shots. Unfortunately when he returned back outside the Bears had all climbed up the trees in our front yard.

Mama Bear and her babies swiftly and skillfully scaled the trees and moaned and grunted to each other. The four Bears were only feet away from Chris, but he could hardly see them anymore.

Chris stood watch, but was already late for work, so he slowly snuck his way to our car and climbed in, and headed off to work. Mama Bear and the Three Cubs played in the trees a little while longer, then moved on to mosey somewhere else.

The End.

Chris DID take this picture (above) of one of the Bear's in the tree in our front yard. (This bear is looking out onto the lawn and gravel road below, well at least that is where it is facing.)
Chris did NOT take this picture, I did NOT take this picture. This is a picture I found online. But Chris said this is what the little Bear family looked like.

I love Bears! I wish I could have been at home to see them with Chris, but I am just happy every one is safe.

Campground Picnic & Exploration

Today Chris and I and our friends Jessica and Daniel went out to the prettiest campgrounds!
We came across it the other day when we went for a drive. We decided to go back and enjoy it.
This is the lovely sight where we set up our picnic dinner.
There are such beautiful trails in these campgrounds. And just past the trees you can see the ocean!

Chris and Jessica climbed this awesome tree while Daniel and I took pictures and used them as our models.

Alaska does have some incredible wild flowers!
I shot the same mountains with a different patch of flowers in both photos here.
I couldn't decide which flowers I like better.

What beautiful colors.

This was our pathway back to the forest which took us to the camp-sight.

The four of us packed up our picnic, took our last pictures and drove away to go home and take a nap. Chris and I love adventures, what a blessing to have such a nice day.

Alaska the Beautiful!

Sandy Beach!

Chris and I always love to go exploring when we get a nice day. On this particular day we were driving home from Church in the early afternoon and we found two gorgeous feathers! One was obviously from an Eagle!

After Chris took pictures of me flapping the feathers on our porch we headed out to
Douglas Island to Sandy Beach.

Waterfalls are all over all of the mountains this time of year, snow melting off. But we won't lose the snow completely.

He is such a handsome scruffy man! My handsome scruffy man!

I love this picture! Just beautiful beach and mountains and deep blues!
Watching the cruise ships come in and out was on my Alaska Bucket List! I love watching them smoothly glide by!

I may have taken a lot of pictures with these wooden poles in the sand, but I think they are so pretty on this landscape!

These wooden poles go all the way into the water there. It was neat there was quite a long line of them.
Chris and I just kept walking, walking, walking down the beach and things kept getting prettier and prettier.
Water is so beautiful! This water is super clear!

The clouds setting in right above the green tree tops is just an incredible contrast.
We decided to turn around and head back up the beach, but then Chris disappears in the forest. You can faintly see his white jacket in the greenery.

Chris did discover some cool things!
I guess we ran into what is called "Treadwell Mine Historic Park".

We came across all kinds of old deserted building like this! Chris loved going into them all and trying to figure out what each building was used for.
The forest is so lush and green everywhere! It is incredible you can hardly see the pond.
Chris just being cute!
The leaves in this forest are huge!

We had such a great time on Sandy Beach.

We ended up following the forest trails all the way back to our car. Then called it a night and drove home.

Three nights later I captured some incredible shots of a stunning sunset just off our porch!

A spring view off our porch just outside our door.
A few hours later I was able to capture this! No words needed!

Alaska the Beautiful. Sometimes it just takes my breath away.
